Thompson Cancer Survival Center
Completed in 1988, the Thompson Cancer Survival Center injected a modernist design element to Knoxville's city skyline.
The design carefully complements the nearby Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center and Dolly Parton Children's Hospital, both also designed by Barber McMurry, but introduces modernist elements in the building's curvature and prominent use of glass in the multi-story atrium.
BarberMcMurry continues to work at Thompson Cancer Survival Center, including work to convert portions of the rooftop into a landscaped rehabilitation terrace.
