PetSafe Engineering Design Gym
This renovation repurposed an underutilized meeting room into a rapid prototype space and lounge — an Engineering Design Gym — that supports PetSafe's processes and culture, inspires new ideas, and encourages rapid evolution from concept to final product.
The interior design is consciously highly adaptable and versatile, highlighting custom elements to support creative ideation. A custom pegboard wall system with shelves and dowels allows for endless configurations for display. Mobile furniture is utterly flexible. Glass panels are writable and magnetic.
An entire wall of custom felt acoustical wall panels in a canine pattern, plus ceiling baffles and soft pendant light fixtures, keep sound from bouncing during brainstorming sessions. Privacy glass allows the glass walls of the Design Gym to be completely opaque, completely transparent, or in-between. Tunable white LED lighting allows for adjustment of color temperature and intensity — helpful for viewing product prototypes and other items as they will be viewed on display in-store or used in real-world situations.
"This project demonstrates that even the smallest scope projects can have a huge impact through the power of thoughtful design."
