Charles & Julie Wharton Chemistry Building

The Charles & Julie Wharton Chemistry Building at UT Knoxville will house more than 30 research labs as well as extensive learning, collaboration and study spaces.

The eight-story building on Cumberland Avenue allows for significant project growth in the department, including increases in the number of undergraduate and graduate students. The exterior honors the University's collegiate gothic aesthetic while providing progressive design elements in metal panel and glazing. Program spaces include two lecture halls, a 50-seat study room, teaching labs, and a dozen collaboration spaces. Lord Aeck Sargent is design consultant.
